Could Islington, N1 be your dream home? How these 20-somethings completed in 2 months

‘We never dreamed that we would be able to get on the ladder so close to everything we loved’

While out on a stroll in Islington, N1, a couple of 20-somethings stumbled across what would be their home two months later. Jack, a 26-year-old Project Manager who rented in Islington for several years, would regularly frequent the plethora of amenities of Upper Street. But he hadn’t truly found somewhere he could call home. Now he and his partner Lisa live in a fabulous new build with a slick interior design, and enjoy the fresh, authenticity of living somewhere that nobody has ever lived before.

Finding a home you love in an area you love: The struggle in a housing crisis

Jack explains, ‘We’d lived in Islington for several years, and knew that property prices weren’t cheap. We both like new build homes, but thought we might struggle to find something we liked in the area we loved.

How they did it

‘We knew we had to move quickly. I sold some stocks and shares, which allowed us to approach with a larger deposit. We bought our apartment off-plan, and because we had seen so many pictures in our research, we were really excited to see the finish product.

How long it took

One of the many advantages of buying a new build home is that the process is smoother than buying a previously owned home, where there is no onward chain which can lead to stoppages, ‘in the end the whole process only took two months, and we couldn’t be happier now that we’ve moved in’.
